South Carolina offensive lineman Corey Robinson was selected Saturday in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

He was taken with the 23rd pick of the final round, or No. 240 overall.

Robinson started 35 games at South Carolina, including all 26 in his final two collegiate seasons.

Robinson thought he might be picked before the seventh round, but by the end of the day, he was happy to be a professional football player.

“I feel great,” he said. “It was a rough day, but in the end God made a way. I am glad. I definitely thought the Lions were in the mix. I had met with the offensive line coach, and it was a good vibe between me and him.”

Robinson measured in at 6-foot-6 5/8 and 324 pounds with a wingspan of 85 3/8 inches at this year’s NFL Combine, making him one of the largest men at the event.

Robinson had surgery on Dec. 30 to repair a meniscus tear that lingered for much of the 2014 season.
