How much Deebo Samuel is projected to get paid by the 49ers
One factor for a new NFL draftee is life-changing money.
Former South Carolina football player Deebo Samuel is about to get that from the San Francisco 49ers.
According to Spotrac, the former Gamecock is in line for a contract worth $7.678 million with a signing bonus of $3.6 million. His projected 2019 cap hit will be $1.396 million. He was taken No. 36 overall, the fourth pick of the second round.
NFL rookie contracts are somewhat rigid thanks to the NFL rookie wage scale enacted in 2011.
Last year, Gamecocks tight end Hayden Hurst got a $11 million deal with a signing bonus of $6.1 million. The Gamecock set to be paid the most next season is Jadeveon Clowney, who is set to earn $15,967 million on the franchise tag.
When healthy his last few seasons, he was a dynamic all-around playmaker. He was a force the first three games of 2017 before a broken bone ended his season and ultimately brought him back to school. He finished his senior season with 62 catches, 882 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.
In addition to his 2,076 receiving yards, he added seven career scores on the ground, four as a returner and one as a special teams gunner.
