Got a favorite spot to eat in Columbia? Deion Sanders wants to know

Primetime is coming back to Columbia, and he’s hungry.

NFL legend Deion Sanders is the father of incoming South Carolina football freshman Shilo Sanders, and as Shilo prepares to officially begin his career at USC, Deion is busy getting familiar with the city he’ll likely visit frequently over the next few years.

On Twitter, Sanders asked for food recommendations in Columbia from his followers, and almost 200 replied and dozens of suggestions came pouring in. It marks one of the first times Sanders has mentioned the Gamecocks or Columbia on social media. (He’s intentionally kept a low profile throughout his son’s recruitment.)

Recommendations ranged Motor Supply Co. Bistro in The Vista to Kiki’s Chicken and Waffles to Lizard’s Thicket — enough to keep Sanders plenty busy over the next four years. Even Carolina men’s basketball coach Frank Martin chimed in, offering to serve Sanders some homemade Cuban food.

It’s been more than 30 years since Deion was seen around Columbia — back then, he and the Florida State Seminoles routed the Gamecocks in back-to-back seasons. But now that he’s back as a dad, he’s likely to get a warm welcome at any of the Capital City’s iconic eateries.
