Spencer Lanning has a new home in Tampa Bay.

The former South Carolina standout punter from Rock Hill, released by the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday, the team announced

Lanning spent two seasons with the Browns, who signed him as a free agent in 2013. He re-signed as an exclusive-rights free agent in March.

The 27-year-old averaged 44.3 yards per punt last season, dropping 25 inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

"Been a hell of a ride," Lanning wrote in a thank you to Cleveland fans on his Twitter account. "Y'all deserve a championship, hate I won't be here to experience it. Can't thank you enough for the memories!"

Lanning will compete for the team's punting job this fall with veteran Michael Koenen.
