South Carolina’s Dakereon Joyner to miss Clemson game
South Carolina football appears to be without its No. 2 quarterback, Dakereon Joyner, for Saturday’s Clemson game.
The redshirt freshman, who has also played receiver, was not in pads during pregame warmups. His absence would leave USC with Ryan Hilinski and Jay Urich on the depth chart.
Joyner missed three games with a hamstring issue and left the Gamecocks’ game against Texas A&M after a vicious hit two weeks ago.
A school official confirmed he was in concussion protocol during the off week, and tried to practice this week. He suffered some headaches and was sit down.
Joyner lost the battle for the No. 2 spot to Hilinski in the offseason. He chose not to transfer and helped where he could, catching balls and as a change of pace QB.
The school also officially announced Bryan Edwards was out about 40 minutes before the game. OrTre Smith, Tavien Feaster, Chavis Dawkins were warming up and Mon Denson (neck) wasn’t expected to play.
USC also shook up its line, moving Sadarius Hutcherson to guard, Dylan Wonnum from right tackle to left and freshman Jakai Moore into the starting lineup.
