Shi Smith 100 percent won’t be testing the NFL waters, he says
After South Carolina’s loss to Clemson to wrap the 2019 season, the Gamecocks football program got a small bit of good news.
Wide receiver Shi Smith said he won’t be testing the NFL pre-draft process at all. Players can submit their name and get a grade, a process common for a lot of juniors.
But Smith, who has some speed and leaping ability as a smaller player, won’t even dabble.
“I’m definitely coming back,” Smith said. “100 percent.”
The product of Union County High School in South Carolina was one of USC’s best play-makers in 2018, putting up 673 yards on 45 catches. That fell to 43 for 489 this season, even with USC losing top target Deebo Samuel off last season’s team.
