Deebo Samuel, Hayden Hurst put up big games as their teams chase No. 1 seeds
Two former South Carolina football stars were in road environments Saturday with teams enjoying stellar seasons.
Deebo Samuel and Hayden Hurst both delivered as their teams chase No. 1 seeds.
Samuel put up 110 total yards on seven touches as his San Francisco 49ers topped New Orleans 48-46. Hurst had a team-high 73 yards on three catches, including his second TD of the season, as Baltimore topped Buffalo 24-17.
Hurst delivered his score from 61 yards out as the Ravens build a 24-9 lead.
Samuel didn’t score, but the rookie caught a pass that put his team on the goal line and later broke a 31-yard run to set up a late field goal in the shootout.
The 49ers win kept them in control of their destiny for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, with three teams tied at the top at 10-2. Baltimore moved to 11-2, momentarily a half game ahead of New England.
Samuel is 10th in program history in receiving yards and touchdowns across only 30 games. Hurst set single-season records for tight end yards.
