South Carolina extends first known QB offer of Mike Bobo era to prolific Texas passer
South Carolina football has made its first publicly known offer to a quarterback with Mike Bobo at the helm of the offense.
Southlake Carroll (Texas) passer Quinn Ewers tweeted out news of the offer. Ewers is not yet ranked by recruiting services, but the 2022 player’s offers include Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&M.
Bobo joined the staff in December, replacing Dan Werner as QB coach and Bryan McClendon as offensive coordinator. The former Colorado State head coach has since seen that QB role shift a little as Bobby Bentley was moved into a role of assisting him with passers.
Last season, Ewers threw for 4,003 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions in 14 games. He also ran for 568 yards at 6.8 yards per carry and scored nine times.
USC is also in the mix for 2022 QB Gunner Stockton out of Georgia.
Historically, the Gamecocks haven’t been shy about offering QBs from the Lone Star State. They currently have an offer out to 2021 passer Garrett Nussmeier, son of former Alabama, Michigan and Florida OC Doug Nussmeier. The younger Nussmeier camped at USC last year.
Werner also offered Jacob Zeno, now at Baylor, Shedeur Sanders, a 2021 four-star whose brother Shilo is at South Carolina, SMU 2021 commit Preston Stone and Texas A&M 2021 commit Eli Stowers.
