USC Gamecocks Football

Which Gamecocks football players gained or lost the most weight this offseason?

South Carolina football is more than a month into its time with strength coach Paul Jackson.

On Monday, the listed weight changes for players became public.

The biggest gainer was a walk-on offensive lineman, a starting tight end with a torn ACL and a reserve receiver. The biggest losers were highlighted by a punter.

Who gained the most weight

OL Gavin Bennett 250 to 275, up 25 pounds

WR Tyquan Johnson 180 to 200, up 20

TE Nick Muse 232 to 250, up 18 pounds

DL Kingsley Enagbare 260 to 275, up 15 pounds

OL Jakai Moore 295 to 310, 15 pounds

LS Matthew Bailey 185 to 200, up 15 pounds

C Hank Manos 290 to 305, up 15 pounds

QB Connor Jordan 197 to 210, up 13 pounds

WR Josh Vann 185 to 195 up 10 pounds

K Alexander Woznick 165 to 175, up 10 pounds

DB Jordan Villafane 175 to 185, up 10 pounds

TE Patrick Reedy 250 to 260 up 10 pounds

DL M.J. Webb 290 to 300 up 10 pounds

RB Zachariah Doe 202 to 210, up 8 pounds

TE Keveon Mullins 220 to 227, up 7 pounds

Notes: Johnson gaining the weight is interesting because he’s long been considered a guy who needed to add weight (he was a strong blocker in high school). Muse getting that big could be a sign he’s stepping into a more in-line role, or it could be weight gained while his ACL was torn. Moore and Manos bulking up is a good as young linemen, and Enagbare’s weight has somewhat fluctuated each of the past few years.

Who lost the most weight

P Christian Kinsley 245 to 220, down 25 pounds

OL/TE Chandler Farrell 295 to 284, down 11 pounds

Kicker Alex Herrera 186 to 175, down 11 pounds

OL William Rogers 310 to 300, down 10 pounds

DL Tyreek Johnson 270 to 260, down 10 pounds

OL Wyatt Campbell 308 to 300, down 8 pounds

Notes: It’s unusual that a punter drops the most, but Kinsley, a Kennesaw State transfer, was pretty big for a punter. Johnson dropping pounds could point to a more to end. Farrell bounced between tight end and offensive line, so being smaller could say something.
