Pharoh Cooper returning to the Carolinas for next NFL stop

Pharoh Cooper is coming back to the Carolinas.

The former South Carolina receiver signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, the team announced Friday. Cooper is the fourth former Gamecock on the roster joining Dennis Daley, Elliott Fry and Mike Davis.

“Back in NC Where it all started ! Let’s go!” Cooper posted on Twitter.

Cooper, who played at Havelock High School in NC, should help the Panthers not only at receiver but also returning kicks. His contract is for $910,000 base salary and $310,000 signing bonus, according The Athletic’s Joe Person.

Cooper started last season with the Cincinnati Bengals and then ended with Arizona Cardinals. With Arizona, he caught a career-high 25 passes for 243 yards and a TD.

The North Carolina native was a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 and spent three seasons there. He was a Pro Bowl selection on special teams in 2017.

At South Carolina, Cooper was a two-time all-SEC selection in 2014 and 2015.
