Bryan Edwards on the mend, ‘moving around well’ as NFL Draft nears
Bryan Edwards is getting healthy with the NFL Draft on the horizon later this month.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Edwards is “moving around well” and teams were sent updated images and scans of the former South Carolina receiver. The 6-foot-3 Edwards announced in February that he broke his foot, which forced him to miss the NFL Combine.
The NFL Draft is set for April 23-25.
“South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards, who fractured his fifth metatarsal before the Combine, has his boot off now and is moving around well, I’m told,” Rapoport said via Twitter on Thursday morning. “Teams were just sent updated images and scans of the Day 2 WR, who is the Gamecocks all-time leader in receptions.”
Most mock drafts have Edwards as a day two (rounds two through three) selection. The latest Sporting News mock draft has Edwards going in the third round to the Baltimore Ravens.
“Edwards is a natural pass catcher with outstanding size and a refined game. He got the best of CJ Henderson when South Carolina defeated Florida last season, and Edwards has the ability to develop into a No. 2 wideout at the next level,” Pro Football Network Tony Pauline said of Edwards.
NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein compares Edwards to David Terrell, a former first-round pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2001 draft.
The former Conway High standout left USC as the school’s all-time leading receiver with 234 catches and 3,045 yards. This season, Edwards led the Gamecocks with 71 catches, 816 yards and six touchdowns. He only played in 10 games as a knee injury kept him out for games against Texas A&M and Clemson.
