Will Muschamp puts his sons through a car-pushing workout
South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp believes in the car as a tool of quarantine workouts.
His players are all at home, with the university shut down. One of his Gamecocks offensive linemen reminded him of the workout he himself once did.
“Vershon Lee sent me a video of him pushing a car,” Muschamp siad. “Which I thought was pretty good. We should do that when I was in high school. But I think that’s good for all of our linemen because at the end of the day, you got to push some weight. And if you don’t have access to weights, to get behind the car and push the car.”
It turns out, the coach thinks it might be worthwhile for quarterbacks too.
Muschamp posted a video of his two sons, Jackson and Whit pushing an SUV at the family home. Whit Muschamp is a rising quarterback at Hammond High School, while Jackson just finished his high school career there and chose a walk-on spot at Georgia over a scholarship spot at Colorado State.
In deploying a vehicle in a workout, Will Muschamp did have one warning.
“Have somebody in there driving into the neutral and pushing the car,” the coach said. “I think would be very beneficial for all of our guys. Get a good burn on the legs get thing rolling a little bit there. It’s a great workout.”
It appears Will Muschamp is the one behind the wheel.
The video got some social media traction and drew a response from a former Muschamp QB.
It also drew a request from Erik Kimrey, the former USC QB who coached both Muschamp sons at Hammond, and in coming years will have Whit Muschamp battling for a starting spot.
