Former South Carolina starting kicker puts name in NCAA transfer portal

At one point, Alexander Woznick appeared poised for a long run as South Carolina football’s starting kicker.

After several seasons backing up Parker White, Woznick put his name in the NCAA transfer portal. A school spokesman confirmed the news Tuesday.

Woznick opened the 2017 season as the top leg, replacing Elliott Fry, the school’s all-time leading kicker. But a poor start let White take the job and he’s held it since.

Woznick kicked in one game last season, getting five touchbacks in six kickoff attempts.

In 2017, Woznick was the primary place kicker against NC State, Missouri and early against Kentucky. He made a 32-yarder against Missouri but missed one kick in that game and then missed a field goal and extra point against the Wildcats in a loss.

White took over, hit a game-winner the next week against Louisiana Tech and held the job since. Woznick had a short stretch as a kickoff specialist in 2018.

For his career, Woznick hit 1-of-3 field goals and 11-of-12 extra points.
