Getting a sense for how much Edwards, Kinlaw, Wonnum might get paid in the NFL
In the past few days, former South Carolina players Bryan Edwards, DJ Wonnum and Javon Kinlaw had life-changing moments getting selected in the NFL Draft.
And now they’re going to make life-changing money.
The numbers for their deals aren’t out yet, but last year’s numbers can serve as a base. Forbes also did a projection for the first round contracts.
Forbes put the numbers for Kinlaw as the No. 14 overall pick to San Francisco at a $15.5 million deal and an $8.8 million signing bonus. That’s a four-year deal with a lucrative fifth-year option.
That’s a bump of a little less than a million on the overall value from last year’s No. 14 pick and a bit more than $100,000 more in signing bonus. Atlanta took Chris Lindstrom there last season, and after getting $9.205 million in Year 1, he’ll earn $1.1 million, $1.8 million the next year and $2.49 the year after, according to Spotrac.
Edwards was drafted No. 81 to the Las Vegas Raiders, the same spot as Will Harris went to Detroit last season. According to Spotrac, Harris’ deal was for $3,723,894 with a signing bonus of $952,244.
The minimum salary in his four seasons is $705,000.
Wonnum went in the early fourth round at pick 117. The player who went there last year was Clemson defensive end Austin Bryant. His signing bonus was $729,836, with a total possible value of $3,249,836 for the deal. He was paid $675,000 last year as a rookie.
Kinlaw was an All-American as a senior, a game-wrecker who keyed an upset of No. 3 Georgia. Edwards posted the most catches and yards in program history.
