Big Gamecocks tackle set to sign with AFC finalist, reports say

South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp often highlighted the contributions of defensive tackle Kobe Smith. The big lineman didn’t speak up too much, but he was an understated pass rusher and a key cog in the Gamecocks front.

And now he’s going to get an NFL chance with the Tennessee Titans.

Yahoo and NFL Network reported the 6-foot-2, 300 pounder is joining the AFC South squad. He started 17 games and played in 48 across four seasons.

As a senior, Smith made 28 tackles with 2 1/2 for loss. For his career, he made 84 tackles, seven for loss, two sacks and seven QB hurries.

A product of Archer High School in Georgia, he picked USC ahead of Kentucky in his recruiting process.
