Reports: NFL veteran Johnathan Joseph finds new team, will stay in AFC
Jonathan Joseph has found a new team and will stay in the same division.
The former South Carolina defensive back will sign a free-agent contract with the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson. Joseph spent the last eight seasons with the Houston Texans, which play in the AFC South with the Titans. The Texans announced last month they and Joseph were parting ways.
Joseph, who was a popular figure in Houston, wrote a heartfelt message about the Texans organization, players and fans after the two parted ways.
“I look forward to continue playing with the same passion and dedication to the game I love,” Joseph wrote in the message on his Twitter page.
Joseph grew up in Rock Hill, SC, and went to Northwestern High School. He played in 14 games last NFL season, making 11 starts and had 51 tackles, one interception.
Joseph is entering his 15th year in the NFL and is in the longest tenured former Gamecock in the league. He was a first-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006 and is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
In his career, Joseph has 31 interceptions and returned seven for touchdowns. He also has recorded 754 tackles.
