Which number Jordan Burch will wear in his first season with Gamecocks
A season ago, Javon Kinlaw wore the No. 3 for the South Carolina Gamecocks, tearing through offensive lines and earning All-American honors.
Now a five-star freshman, Jordan Burch, will inherit the number.
Burch posted on Snapchat a picture of his locker with the new number. He wore No. 7 as a high school star at Hammond.
Returning starting quarterback Ryan Hilinski wore No. 3 on offense in 2019 and will again. Had Burch wanted No. 7, it was held by sophomore starter Jammie Robinson.
Burch was the No. 8 prospect in the country in the 247 Sports composite rankings, the highest rated Gamecocks signee since Jadeveon Clowney.
As a senior, Burch posted nine sacks and 18 tackles for loss, while moonlighting as a running back and scoring 18 times for the Skyhawks. He played alongside four-star USC tackle Alex Huntley.
The 6-foot-5, 275 pounder is expected to start his career at the Buck position, competing with fourth-year junior Brad Johnson for playing time.
The Gamecocks just started two weeks of preseason walkthroughs leading into preseason camp.
