South Carolina adds non-conference game to 2024 schedule
South Carolina in 2024 will play Old Dominion in football for the first time, it was revealed Friday.
The game is set for Aug. 31, 2024 at Williams-Brice Stadium. USC will pay Old Dominion $1.5 million for the game, according to a review of the contract. That’s the highest payout ODU has received for a football game, the school reported Friday.
Old Dominion competes in Conference USA.
“We’re excited to have an SEC team like South Carolina on our schedule,” Old Dominion coach Ricky Rahne told the school website. “My personal experience is that Williams-Brice Stadium is one of the most electric atmospheres in college football and I’m confident that energy will bring out the best in our players.”
South Carolina is already slated to host Akron in 2024. An additional non-conference game will be added to USC’s slate at some point. The Gamecocks will travel to Clemson that season and have a road trip to Alabama that’s part of USC’s SEC West opponent rotation.
