Former Gamecock football player joins new NFL squad

Taylor Stallworth blossomed his final season as a South Carolina Gamecocks. He fought he way into the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.

And now he has a new professional home with the Indianapolis Colts.

The AFC South team announced the signing of the 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle from Alabama. He played in New Orleans for two seasons.

Stallworth was recruited late in the Steve Spurrier era, but came into his own with Will Muschamp. He was a key player as a junior and blossomed into one of the team’s best lineman in as a senior on the most solid defense of the Muschamp era.

He made 41 tackles as a junior and 30 as a senior.

Stallworth went undrafted in 2018, but worked his way onto the Saints’ roster, playing 14 games with 13 tackles and a sack as a rookie. He played in four games last season.

He made eight tackles and played in the postseason last year.

The Colts added All-Pro tackle DeForest Buckner and veteran Sheldon Day this offseason.
