Betting line, odds set for South Carolina’s opener against Tennessee
South Carolina opens the 2020 college football season as a swing game and will do it as an underdog.
BetOnline.ag released its Week 1 SEC lines and the Gamecocks are a three-point underdog against the Tennessee Volunteers. The conference shook up the schedule in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Gamecocks saw a three-game winning streak against the Vols snapped last year. South Carolina rallied to take a 21-17 halftime lead, but Jeremy Pruitt’s squad scored the final 24 points of the game, part of a winning streak that turned around Tennessee’s season. The spread had favored USC going into the game.
The Vols went 8-5 last year, beating Indiana in a bowl, while South Carolina struggled to a 4-8 finish.
The Gamecocks were facing some long odds with half their schedule being in the top 13 of the preseason Coaches Poll. Their road got harder with the news Thursday that projected starting tailback MarShawn Lloyd tore his ACL.
