South Carolina set to open the 2020 football season in prime time
South Carolina football will play the most competitive game of the first week of the 2020 SEC football season, so perhaps it makes sense to put the Gamecocks and Tennessee in prime time.
South Carolina on Tuesday learned its first two games times, getting the Volunteers at 7:30 p.m. in Williams-Brice Stadium on Sept. 26 on SEC Network. The next week, USC will head to Gainesville for a noon kick against Florida on ESPN.
The SEC also announced the Nov. 7 home game against Texas A&M will be at 7:30 on SEC Network or ESPN.
The Gamecocks will face an 10-game grind of SEC opponents after the COVID pandemic led the conference to set up a league-only slate.
South Carolina is in line to face five top-13 teams in its 10 games. The team was given an over/under by Las Vegas of 3 1/2 wins.
The Gamecocks lost to both Florida and Tennessee last season. South Carolina saw a three-game winning sreak against the Vols snapped in Knoxville after the hosts scored the game’s final 24 points to pull away for the 41-21 win. USC led the Gators by seven and later three in the third quarter at home last season, but gave up a 21-0 run in the fourth quarter of a 38-27 loss, the second in a row against UF.
