South Carolina great John Abraham nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Only 12 men have more NFL sacks than former South Carolina Gamecock John Abraham. Every eligible player ahead of him is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This year, the Timmonsville and Lamar High School product will have another shot.

In Columbia, Abraham played for Brad Scott and on the first Lou Holtz team, which went 0-11. But he was a force, posting 23 1/2 sacks and earning first-team all-conference honors.

He played only one season of high school ball, but was a speedy track athletes, having set a state-record 22.6-second 200-meter dash, and was 6-foot-4, 263 pounds in his playing days.
