One day until the South Carolina Gamecocks play: The one thing to remember
Y’all, this is supposed to be fun.
Being a sports fan is stressful in its own way. In a few weeks from now, more than a few people will likely have called for a different QB or a new coach or a change in play-caller or some such thing. And for South Carolina fans, that’s even more part of the mix.
That’s the nature of it. That’s the beast. These folks get paid the big bucks (well, not the players), so they’ll take the heat. And for many, the angst and complaining are part of the enjoyment.
But this wasn’t guaranteed. We literally went for months with the potential of no season at all.
And now we sit one day away from the Tennessee Volunteers rolling into Williams-Brice Stadium to face the Gamecocks.
It won’t be the same and it won’t be normal, but it’s something to be passionate about and something to savor. There will be two and a half months of unknowns. This team has plenty of them, and any college schedule is going to surprise.
So get ready for the surprises, the ups, the downs, the swings. Get ready for the moment a runner or pass rusher breaks free or that second when a QB loads up a deep ball and everyone holds their breath.
Each season brings something new. Yes, sometimes it’ll make fans miserable, but we can’t forget to have fun with all of it.
