South Carolina opens as massive underdog for road trip to Florida

South Carolina’s football team might be a big underdog a few times this season.

Heading into a trip to Gainesville this weekend, the Gamecocks will be more than a three-touchdown underdog to the Gators.

USC opened as a 22-point underdog in the SEC East contest. That number was bet down to 21.5 points, according to Vegas Insider.

South Carolina was a 20-point underdog three times last season, covering once in the upset of Georgia.

The Gamecocks have lost two in a row in the series, losing second half leads in Columbia last year and at Florida the year before that.

Florida opened the season scoring more than 50 points and topping Ole Miss, while the Gamecocks were sloppy in a 31-27 loss to Tennessee.

Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp had his first head coaching job at UF and spent time in the town as a child.
