TV channel, kickoff time set for South Carolina road game at Texas A&M
South Carolina football will turn from a home matchup with Vanderbilt to hit the road again. The Gamecocks travel to Kyle Field next weekend to play their permanent SEC West opponent Texas A&M.
The Gamecocks play the Aggies on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in College Station, Texas, the SEC announced Monday. The game will be televised by SEC Network.
USC is 0-7 all-time against Texas A&M, dropping every matchup since the Gamecocks started playing the Aggies annually in 2014. South Carolina’s last two meetings were lost by a combined final of 78-9, with last year’s game in Columbia a decisive 48-3 Texas A&M victory.
South Carolina (3-3, 0-3 SEC) plays Texas A&M (4-2, 1-2 SEC) after hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores for a homecoming game in Williams-Brice Stadium on Oct. 16. The Gamecocks haven’t fared well in SEC play, losing to Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Through its first three conference games, South Carolina averages just over 14 points and 294 yards of total offense. By comparison, Gamecocks have allowed their conference opponents an average of 33.6 points and 431.6 yards.
The Aggies fell from grace in the SEC West after an injury to starting quarterback Haynes King saw them struggle for a win against Colorado (a now 1-4 Pac-12 team) and losing to Arkansas and Mississippi State at Kyle Field. But Texas A&M bounced back with quarterback Zach Calzada to upset the then-No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide on Oct. 9 thanks to a game-winning field goal.
