Live from Faurot Field: South Carolina rally comes up short at Missouri

The State’s Ben Portnoy is inside Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium for Saturday’s South Carolina football game against Missouri (4 p.m., SEC Network). Below are the updates from the game.

What’s the South Carolina Missouri score right now?

Gamecocks rally in fourth quarter

Trailling 31-14, South Carolina scored twice in the fourth quarter in a two minute span. Zaquandre White’s 3-yard run cut it to 31-28 with 4:32 left. But Mizzou was able to run the clock out behind Tyler Badie

Defensive touchdown extends Missouri lead

South Carolina native and former Irmo standout Trajan Jeffcoat gave Missouri a 24-14 lead when he recovered a fumble from USC quarterback Jason Brown in the end zone. Martez Manuel had the forced fumble for Missouri.

Field goal gives Missouri halftime lead

Harrison Mavis’ 19-yard field on the final play of the first half put Missouri up 17-14 at halftime. Missouri converted a third-and-10 at the Gamecocks 24 to set up the field goa.

Josh Vann catches fourth TD pass of season

South Carolina tied it at 14-14 when quarterback Jason Brown found Josh Vann on a 26-yard touchdown pass. It capped a 13-play, 75-yard drive for USC. It was Vann’s fourth TD catch of the year.

Connor Bazalek throws second TD of game

A game-time decision, Missouri Connor Bazalek has looked good so far as he hit Mookie Cooper for a 60-yard touchdown pass as the Gamecocks blitzed on the play. Missouri leads 14-7 12:09 in the second quarter. South Carolina has given up three passing plays of 60 yards or more this season, tied for second-most in the SEC ahead of Mississippi State and tied with Vanderbilt.

Missouri scores early in the second quarter

Missouri capitalized on a South Carolina turnover and drove it 79 yards for a touchdown as Connor Bazalek hit Daniel Parker Jr. on a 2-yard touchdown pass to tie it at 7-7 with 14:26 left in the second quarter.

Kevin Harris gets South Carolina on board first

South Carolina took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as running back Kevin Harris scored on a 2-yard run with 10:22 left in first quarter. The drive was set up by Cam Smith’s interception of Connor Bazalek.

Bazalek to start at quarterback for Mizzou

Connor Bazalek will start at Missouri today. Bazalek, the team’s normal starter, missed last week’s game after he suffered a soft tissue injury in the fourth quarter of Missouri’s win over Vanderbilt on Oct. 30. While Bazalek will start, Hyrin White and defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo are out for the game because of injuries.

Bowl eligibility

South Carolina could become bowl eligible today with a win or one win in their final three contests.

Gamecocks uniform report
