South Carolina football was without an assistant coach for its 21-17 win over Auburn.

Offensive line coach Greg Adkins wasn’t on the sideline Saturday night due to a “health scare,” head coach Shane Beamer said in his postgame press conference.

“He’s fine,” Beamer said. “He was at the hotel this morning for meetings, he was there this afternoon. He was here tonight before the game, but we felt like the best thing for him was to not be down there on the sideline and be in the middle of it.”

Offensive analyst Lonnie Teasley, who coached offensive line at North Carolina Central for two years before joining the Gamecocks’ staff, served in Adkins’ role on Saturday.

Beamer said Adkins will be back at South Carolina practice tomorrow.

“’He was cleared to be out there tonight,” Beamer said. “It was nothing major, but just felt like the best thing for him was to not be down there in the middle of it.”

South Carolina totaled 306 all-purpose yards Saturday, including 149 rushing. Running back ZaQuandre White ran for 99 yards on 16 attempts and added another 69 yards on three receptions.

Quarterback Jason Brown completed 10 of his 15 pass attempts for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Brown was sacked four times.
