South Carolina football is losing another member of its offense.

Third-year offensive lineman Vincent Murphy, who spent much of last season listed as backup center behind Eric Douglas, tweeted Monday he will be entering the transfer portal.

“I would like to announce that I have decided to enter the transfer portal and I have 3 years of eligibility left. Thank you South Carolina for great a run,” Murphy said in the tweet.

Murphy, a 6-foot-2, 312-pound redshirt sophomore, played in eight games this season, working at both center and guard.

Rated a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, Murphy attended high school at Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale and was rated the seventh-best prospect at center in the 2019 class.

Murphy is the seventh Gamecock to announce a transfer from Shane Beamer’s program since the start of the 2021 football season and fifth to leave since the regular season ended.

Murphy is the first offensive lineman to depart and fourth offensive player to seek a new college football home, joining quarterback Connor Jordan and wide receivers Ger-Cari Caldwell and OrTre Smith.
