Another defensive lineman for Gamecocks to enter transfer portal
Reserve defensive lineman Will Rogers will enter the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday morning.
He’s the fifth Gamecock to declare his intentions to leave the program since head coach Shane Beamer and South Carolina wrapped up spring practice this weekend.
Rogers posted his decision to Twitter: “First I would like to take the time to thank the University of South Carolina for giving me the opportunity to be a student-athlete at this prestigious institution. Thank you to my teammates and coaches that pushed me to be my best. I would also like to thank my family and friends for your support. With that being said I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”
He’s played in one game in three years with the program, signing in the 2019 class out of Lovejoy High School in Georgia. He was signed as an offensive lineman and made the transition to defense in 2021.
Fellow defensive linemen Devontae Davis and Keem Green entered the transfer portal on Monday.
Rogers was a three-star prospect who originally chose the Gamecocks over interest or offers Illinois, Georgia State, Florida International, Boston College and Missouri.
