NFL’s Russell Wilson shouts out South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler after impression

South Carolina football is officially in on the “Let’s Ride” media day trend set off last month by Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.

In a video posted Tuesday to the team’s Twitter account, quarterback Spencer Rattler imitated Wilson’s semi-endearing, semi-awkward hype video takes that are sweeping the country during USC’s in-house media day.

“Gamecock Country … let’s ride.”

“Gamecock Country … let’s ride.”

“Gamecock Country … let’s ride.”

“Gamecock Country … let’s ride.”

“This is your fault,” USC tweeted, tagging Wilson’s account and asking for an evaluation of Rattler’s performance.

“This pretty good Ratt!” Wilson replied. “Not too much energy…but just right.”

Wilson, the longtime Seattle Seahawks star and Super Bowl champion now entering his first year with the Broncos, set off the trend last month when the team’s Twitter account posted a 24-second clip of him repeating one phrase (“Broncos Country … let’s ride”) for promotional clips.

The video now has 4.1 million views, and as college football programs take on their own media days a number of parodies have sprung up. Outside of South Carolina, other teams to hop in on the trend include:

South Carolina and second-year coach Shane Beamer open their 2022 season at home against Georgia State on Saturday Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
