Shane Beamer updates Jordan Strachan, Cam Smith, Mo Kaba injuries

South Carolina lost multiple players to injury during Saturday’s 44-30 loss to Arkansas. A few of them appear to be more serious than others.

“It doesn’t look good” for defensive end Jordan Strachan and linebacker Mo Kaba. Both appeared to suffered leg injuries Saturday.

“We’ll see when we get back to Columbia, but it doesn’t look going forward,” Beamer said of Strachan and Kaba. “We’ll say our prayers tonight and hopefully we’ll get some good news, but right now it doesn’t look good.”

Strachan was seen by the USC locker room on crutches, the (Charleston) Post & Courier’s David Cloninger reported.

Top cornerback Cam Smith should be fine, Beamer said. Smith left the game in the second quarter. Beamer described Smith’s issue as an “upper body injury” and that the team hopes “it will not be long for him at all.”

“Cam Smith walked off into the locker room,” ESPN sideline reporter Kris Budden said on the broadcast. “He did not have his helmet, had his towel over his head, struggled to even walk.”

Kaba is a junior who had an ACL injury in high school. He left Saturday’s game in the first half after a sack attempt on Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson.

Strachan is a super senior who passed on a chance for the pros to come back for one final college season. On Saturday, he went to the sideline in the third quarter shortly after a rush attempt on Jefferson.

ESPN’s Budden said Strachan “found his family in the stands, they were crying together. His family went into the locker room. It does not look good right now.”

RJ Roderick (arm) and David Spaulding (leg) didn’t travel or play Saturday.
