Dylan Wonnum among injured starters who won’t play for USC tonight vs. Charlotte
South Carolina is once again compromised with injuries this week, missing one of its key offensive linemen.
Fifth-year lineman Dylan Wonnum will be out against the Charlotte 49ers, the school announced. Wonnum had started all three games for USC before Saturday. Jaylen Nichols or Jakai Moore could slide into the lineup at tackle for Wonnum.
“He tweaked his foot sometime this week,” play-by-play voice Todd Ellis said of Wonnum on the pregame radio show.
On the defensive side, the Gamecocks will be without defensive backs Darius Rush and David Spaulding. Spaulding will miss his third game this season. Backup defensive lineman Terrell Dawkins was also not on the game’s official dress list.
Previously questionable, cornerback Cam Smith will be available for South Carolina. Wide receiver Corey Rucker was also listed as available. The Arkansas State transfer has not played yet this season.
Alex Huntley, also questionable earlier this week, was listed on the dress roster and is expected to play.
Safety RJ Roderick is also listed as available, but it’s not clear if he’ll play.
