Kirk Herbstreit touts Shane Beamer as one of college football’s top Week 6 coaches
South Carolina’s 24-14 road win over No. 13 Kentucky garnered some national attention, including for the Gamecocks’ head coach.
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit this week recognized Shane Beamer as one of the top six head coaches in college football from Week 6.
He finished fourth on the list, with Steve Sarkisian, Chip Kelly and Scott Satterfield ahead of him, and Jim Leonhard and Shaun Aguano behind him.
Beamer also received the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week after the upset win. The award goes to coaches who exemplify “scholarship, leadership and integrity,” according to its website.
The Gamecocks held Kentucky to 14 points, and the team blocked a punt, intercepted a pass and picked up 266 yards of second-half offense.
