Hey, look: South Carolina football ranked in AP Top 25 for first time in four years
Spencer Rattler asked one simple question after the team’s 30-24 win Saturday over Texas A&M.
“When are we gonna be ranked?” he said. “We had two great games.”
Rattler got his wish on Sunday, as the Gamecocks earned the No. 25 spot in the The Associated Press Top 25. It’s the first time South Carolina has been ranked since Week 2 of the 2018 season.
South Carolina defeated Kentucky on the road two weeks ago before its bye week, and followed that up with the team’s first-ever win against the Aggies.
The Wildcats started the season as the No. 20 team in the nation in the AP poll, and got as high as No. 7 at one point. Texas A&M opened the year as the No. 6 team in the country before ultimately falling out of the rankings.
USC had been receiving votes in the AP poll in recent weeks and finally broke through this week.
The Gamecocks also took the No. 25 spot in the USA Today Sports AFCA football Top 25 after Saturday’s win, the other major ranking in college football.
