One-time transfer for Gamecocks is back in portal
South Carolina has lost another defender to the transfer portal.
Defensive back Tyrese Ross entered the portal on Tuesday, a USC spokesman confirmed to The State. On3’s Matt Zenitz first reported the news.
Ross transferred to USC from Washington State in 2021. He played in 13 games in his South Carolina career, including six appearances this season.
He totaled nine tackles for the Gamecocks this year.
Ross played 17 games at Washington State, with his best season coming in 2019 when he recorded a career-high 33 tackles and forced a fumble.
He’s the seventh scholarship Gamecock in the portal this cycle and the sixth one since the regular season ended. He’s also the third member of the secondary to announce plans to transfer.
