South Carolina football losing linebacker to transfer portal
Another South Carolina football player announced Saturday that he is leaving the program, one day after the Gator Bowl.
Linebacker Hot Rod Fitten said via Twitter that he is entering the transfer portal. Fitten joins long snapper Matthew Bailey, who said earlier in the day he will transfer.
The Atlanta native appeared in just one game this season against Charlotte. For his career, Fitten has made two starts and played in 11 games. He has eight tackles.
Fitten committed to USC in 2017 and then signed in 2019 for former coach Will Muschamp. He also had offers from Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Nebraska, among others.
The Gamecocks went 8-5 this season and lost to Notre Dame in the Tax Slayer Bowl on Friday.
