South Carolina’s running back room just got even thinner.

Redshirt sophomore Rashad Amos has entered the transfer portal, a USC spokesperson confirmed to The State.

Amos played in 13 games with South Carolina, including 10 in 2022, and had 119 total career yards.

He received two carries for seven yards this season, mostly playing in a special teams role. He was the second tailback in the game in Friday’s Gator Bowl loss to Notre Dame. His lone carry went for minus-two yards.

The highlight of his season was his punt block against Georgia State in Week 1 that was returned by DQ Smith for a touchdown.

South Carolina lost its leading running back MarShawn Lloyd to the transfer portal last month. It will also lose Christian Beal-Smith and Dante Miller, who are both out of eligibility. Miller was not on scholarship but got a few more carries than Amos.

The team also looked to tight end Jaheim Bell for production in the backfield, but he transferred to Florida State in December.

The team will return two scholarship running backs — Juju McDowell and Lovasea Carroll.

He’s the team’s third scholarship departure to the transfer portal since the Gator Bowl wrapped.
