South Carolina has a new specialist in the mix.

Kicking prospect Peyton Argent from Hoover High School in Alabama announced his commitment to USC via Twitter on Monday afternoon. Argent is the No. 17 kicker in the 2023 class, per Kohl’s Kicking. Hoover is one of top programs in Alabama.

“I would like to start off by thanking God for my talent and the opportunity to continue doing what I love and being able to do it in the SEC,” he wrote. “I would like to thank my family for their unconditional and endless support throughout the years to get me to this level.”

Argent previously took visits to Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State and Troy over the last year. He was named a first team All-State honoree this fall and was selected for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.

As a junior, Argent hit all 62 of his extra points and made 9 of 11 field goal tries, with a long of 43 yards.

South Carolina brings back Mitch Jeter in 2023 after he took on the starting place-kicking duties from Parker White, the program’s all-time leading scorer. Jeter connected on all 11 of his field goal attempts and 42 of 44 extra point tries this year.
