Gamecocks picked fourth in East in preseason media poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina was picked fourth in the SEC East in the preseason media poll at SEC Media Days.

The Gamecocks, coming off a 7-6 season and with questions at quarterback and on defense, were voted behind first-place Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri, which has won the last two SEC East titles. USC was picked to win the East last year but went 3-5 in the league.

The Gamecocks got one vote for SEC East champion this year.

Auburn was picked to win the SEC championship while Alabama was picked to win the SEC West. The media has correctly picked the champion just five times in 23 years.

The preseason All-SEC teams will be released on Friday.
