Bobby Bentley is staying in the state of Florida to continue his coaching career.

The former South Carolina assistant was announced as an analyst on Gus Malzhan’s staff at Central Florida on Wednesday. Bentley was an offensive analyst at Auburn under Malzahn for two seasons.

Bentley spent the last two seasons as receivers coach and passing game coordinator while working for Jeff Scott at South Florida. He was let go after the 2022 season after Scott was fired.

Bentley spent time in the Palmetto State in July, running his quarterback camps in Florence and Charleston.

He worked four seasons on Will Muschamp’s staff at South Carolina from 2016 to 2019. He spent time as running backs and tight ends coach. Rivals named him among the Top 25 recruiters for the 2019 class.

Bentley was a successful high school coach in South Carolina before getting into the college ranks. He went 119-54 in his two stints at Byrnes High in the Upstate. The Rebels won four consecutive state championships from 2002 to 2005. He left Byrnes to become head coach Presbyterian College, where he spent one season.

Three of Bentley’s sons have gone on into coaching. Jake Bentley, who played for his dad at USC, is at South Alabama. Shuler Bentley is at Charleston Southern and Chas Dodd is an assistant strength coach at Rutgers.
