High-profile South Carolina and Clemson transfers contribute to new teams’ Week 1 wins

Some former South Carolina and Clemson players had big weeks with their new teams this week.

Two of the most high-profile performances came on Sunday by Florida State’s Jaheim Bell (South Carolina) and Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei (Clemson).

Bell had a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, including a 44-yard touchdown catch from Jordan Travis, in the 45-24 win over LSU. He finished with two catches for 49 yards and a four-yard TD run.

Former Gamecock defensive lineman Gilber Edmond had one tackle for FSU.

Uiagalelei, the former Clemson quarterback, was 20-of-25 passing for 239 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for two scores Sunday in a 42-17 win over San Jose State.

Former Gamecock running back Deshaun Fenwick rushed eight times for 33 yards and a TD for Oregon State.

Other former Gamecocks and Clemson players’ performances from this weekend

MarShawn Lloyd RB, Southern Cal: Former Gamecock carried the ball seven times for 76 yards and a TD in the Trojans’ 66-14 win over Nevada.

Kobe Pace, RB, Virginia: Former Clemson running back carried it seven times for 39 yards in Virginia loss to Tennessee.

Jordan Burch, DE, Oregon: Former Gamecock had three tackles, one for loss, in Oregon’s 81-7 win over Portland State.

Chez Mellusi, RB, Wisconsin: Former Clemson running back had 157 yards rushing and two touchdowns, one an 89-yard scamper, in Wisconsin’s 38-17 win over Buffalo.

Corey Rucker, WR, Arkansas State: Former Gamecock had a catch for 28 yards in 73-0 loss to Oklahoma.
