South Carolina opens as betting favorite vs. Mississippi State
South Carolina opens its second week of SEC play as the betting favorites against Mississippi State.
USC is a 4.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel and DraftKings opening odds. Circa Sports on Sunday listed the Gamecocks as 4-point favorites.
The over/under for points scored is 52.5, according to FanDuel.
Both teams are coming off losses to ranked teams to open SEC play. The Gamecocks (1-2, 0-1 SEC) fell to No. 1 Georgia 24-14 in Athens, while the other Bulldogs (2-1, 0-1 SEC) lost to No. 14 LSU 41-14 in Starkville.
South Carolina is 1-1 against the spread so far this season, after starting to season 0-1 during the loss to UNC in Week 1. They covered against UGA with the 10-point loss. (There wasn’t an official betting line for the USC-Furman game.) Mississippi State is 1-2 against the spread.
This marks the first time since 2016 the two programs faced off, and the first since 2013 they’ve played at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Gamecocks lost the last meeting, 27-14. USC leads all all-time series 9-7-0.
