TV channel, kickoff time set for South Carolina’s home football game vs. Florida
The kickoff time and TV channel for South Carolina’s 2023 homecoming game are set.
The Gamecocks play the Florida Gators at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Williams-Brice Stadium, it was announced Monday. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
It’s USC’s earliest home kickoff of the season — and it comes on the first weekend of the State Fair in Columbia. The fair opens at 10 a.m. that Saturday. The football game-fair combination will elevate pregame and postgame traffic in the area and put a squeeze on parking options, as the fairgrounds lot will be used primarily by fair patrons.
South Carolina (2-3, 1-2 SEC) and Florida (3-2, 1-1) have played every year since USC joined the SEC in 1992. The Gators lead the all-time conference series 24-7. Last season, the Gamecocks lost 38-6 in Gainesville.
South Carolina suffered a disappointing 41-20 loss at Tennessee over the weekend. The Volunteers became the first group to limit Xavier Legette and also exploited the defenses shortcomings en route to a vengeful victory. The Gamecocks will look to return from their bye week with a rebound win over an inconsistent Gators team.
UF had a brief stint in the Top 25 this season after defeating then-No. 11 Tennessee 29-16 at home. But a 33-14 loss to Kentucky saw Florida drop from the rankings
This weekend, the Gators host the Vanderbilt for their homecoming game.
