South Carolina’s Xavier Legette ruled out of Missouri game after first-half injury
South Carolina leading receiver Xavier Legette will not return to Saturday’s game after an undisclosed upper body injury suffered against Missouri in the first quarter.
Legette was ruled out of the game, per the radio and TV broadcasts. Head coach Shane Beamer confirmed at halftime that Legette was done for the game, but he didn’t disclose any additional information.
The redshirt senior went into the medical tent after a first-half punt return against the Tigers and left with his helmet off. He spent the remainder of the half on the bench with a towel on his head.
The senior Gamecock was leading the team in receiving with 716 yards entering Saturday’s game, good for third in the SEC.
Legette became the top receiver for South Carolina this season after Juice Wells suffered a lingering foot injury that’s sidelined him since the beginning of the season.
Missouri leads the game 24-3 at halftime.
