Gamecocks losing second receiver to transfer portal

South Carolina wide receiver Landon Samson will enter his name in the transfer portal, his father confirmed to The State.

Samson’s departure was first reported by Gamecock Central.

The redshirt freshman wide receiver didn’t play during the 2023 season, and was on the scout team his freshman year. Samson made his collegiate debut in the 2022 Gator Bowl, but didn’t record any statistics. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

Samson was the 2020 Texas District 4-6A Offensive Player of the Year at Southlake Carroll High School. He had 48 catches for 864 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games as a senior.

Samson is the third South Carolina player to declare intentions for the transfer portal today. Players can’t officially enter the portal until Dec. 4.
