A fourth South Carolina wide receiver will transfer, report says
South Carolina’s already thin receiving group might be losing another player.
Redshirt sophomore O’Mega Blake is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to a report by Gamecock Central on Friday morning.
Blake would join Juice Wells, Landon Samson and Kylic Horton as Gamecocks receivers expected to leave the program. USC’s recevier room also will lose Xavier Legette, who graduated and projected to be a possible early-round NFL Draft choice, as well as Ahmarean Brown, who was out of eligibility.
Players can’t officially enter the transfer portal until Monday.
If Blake leaves, the team’s top returning receiver would be Luke Doty, who began his career as a quarterback and caught 13 passes this year.
Blake had his best season as a Gamecock this year with 19 catches for 250 yards and a touchdown. He also was voted Most Improved Player, along with Dakereon Joyner, after the spring.
Blake’s role increased after Juice Wells went down in the Georgia game with a foot injury. He came in and had five catches for 86 yards in the game.
Blake was a three-star prospect coming out of South Pointe High School in Rock Hill where he played receiver and saw some action at quarterback. In his senior season, he had 680 yards receiving, 13 total touchdowns, 182 yards rushing and also threw for 180 yards.
