Gamecock defensive transfer finds new college home not far from USC

The first of South Carolina’s transfers has found a new home.

Defensive lineman D’Andre Martin announced Monday that he will play for the Charlotte 49ers as he continues his career.

“Mama, I’m coming home,” Martin wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

Martin is a Durham, North Carolina native but finished his high school career at Life Christian in Virginia. The 6-foot-4, 306-pounder appeared in four games during his two years with the Gamecocks.

Martin is one of 16 USC players who have entered the portal.
