South Carolina adds big tight end transfer from the MAC
South Carolina has added a commitment from a transfer tight end.
Brady Hunt (6-6, 249) joins USC by way of Ball State, which competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). He didn’t play in 2023 because of an ankle injury. He had 46 catches for 498 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman in 2022. Hunt’s 2022 efforts made him the first Ball State tight end since 2013 to earn a first-team All-MAC honor.
Hunt announced his commitment on social media Sunday morning. Prior to his ankle injury, Hunt was named a preseason Group of Five All-American by Hero Sports and was a 2023 Mackey Award Watch List honoree.
Hunt, originally from Muncie, Indiana, is another addition for USC with quarterback experience. He was recruited out of high school as a signal caller. He had more than 3,700 career yards over four years at QB with 47 passing touchdowns and 17 rushing touchdowns. He made the switch to tight end his freshman year at Ball State and made his collegiate debut in late November 2021.
He’s the Gamecocks’ eight portal addition this cycle and first at the tight end position.
South Carolina’s returning scholarship tight ends include Joshua Simon, Connor Cox, Reid Mikeska and Nick Elksnis. The Gamecocks lost Trey Knox, who’s out of collegiate eligibility.
