The details for South Carolina’s final SEC road game are now set.

The Gamecocks will face Vanderbilt in Nashville on Nov. 9 at 4:15 p.m. and air on SEC Network.

Months ago, this game was mostly an afterthought on South Carolina’s schedule. Vanderbilt, often the doormat of the SEC, is usually the afterthought.

But the Commodores, headlined by New Mexico State transfer quarterback Diego Pavia, are 5-3 (2-2 SEC) and a win away from making a bowl for the first time in six seasons.

Not only did Vanderbilt pull one of the biggest upsets of recent memory, beating No. 1 Alabama in early October, but the Commodores also topped Kentucky and nearly knocked off No. 5 Texas this past Saturday before falling by a field goal.

Next Saturday in Nashville, Vanderbilt will try and beat South Carolina (4-3, 2-3 SEC) for the first time since 2008. And, perhaps, helping Vandy’s cause: The Commodores play a struggling Auburn team this week while South Carolina takes on No. 10 Texas A&M.

If the Gamecocks can get past the Aggies this Saturday, they could earn bowl eligibility in Nashville and surpass their win total from 2023.

So far this season, too, South Carolina has played really well on the road. The Gamecocks are 2-1 with blowout wins over Kentucky and Oklahoma with its lone road loss a nail-biter against the Crimson Tide.
