Texans set target date for Jadeveon Clowney’s return
Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien put a possible date Sunday to the return of Jadeveon Clowney from his knee injury.
“I would say the goal is to get him back on the field on Aug. 17 and then go from there,” O’Brien told reporters after Sunday morning’s practice.
The Texans last month placed Clowney on the physically unable to perform list. The outside linebacker can return to practice when he is medically cleared.
Houston’s No. 1 overall 2014 draft pick from South Carolina has been on injured reserve after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee in December. Clowney played four games as a rookie last season before having the surgery.
The Texans hope Clowney will be healthy in time for the season opener. He has practiced on a side field away from teammates so far in training camp.
